A leader in emergency management communications, Mike Halliday is a FEMA Master Public Information Officer and state-certified communications instructor. His experience in emergency and crisis communications includes collaborating with PIOs from various organizations to coordinate messaging during major incident responses.
He is experienced prepping electeds, school officials, and other leaders for media interviews and conducting interviews himself. Mike started his 25-year career as a newspaper reporter covering law enforcement, local politics, and education. Before joining Pierce County in 2013, he worked for Kent School District鈥檚 communication office for nearly seven years.
Mike has personal connections to the work within the affiliate network, including a family member who works for an affiliate and his wife who is an elementary principal partnering closely with her CIS Site Coordinator.
