Who We Are

91¹ú²ú (CISWA) ensures every student has the support they need to succeed in school and life. Through a network of 10 independent affiliates and 3 emerging affiliates, CISWA serves more than
109,000 91¹ú²ú across 205 K-12 schools in 40 districts statewide. Of those, nearly 6,000 91¹ú²ú receive individualized support to help them overcome barriers and thrive.

With our unique position within school systems, our Site Coordinators advocate effectively on behalf of 91¹ú²ú, ensuring that their voices are heard.

Your Support Helps Us Achieve Remarkable Impact:

  • Chronic Absenteeism: Address the issue affecting over 30% of 91¹ú²ú in Washington, with many missing 10 or more days of school per year. 
  • Basic Needs Support: Provide critical resources like housing, school supplies, clothing, hygiene kits, and food. Last year, Site Coordinators distributed over 397,000 basic needs items
  • Mental Health Support: Supply essential services, including 70 hours of professional training in Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) and trauma-informed care. 
  • Technology Access: Expand digital access for underserved 91¹ú²ú. Last year, our Digital Navigation program supported an average of 2,221 91¹ú²ú per month statewide.

FALL

Inside CIS with Stewart Elementary
Join us for an intimate gathering at a school in Puyallup Schools District. The evening is limited to 50 individuals and will feature small group site visits with a CIS Site Coordinator + a panel discussion with Puyallup School District leadership and Stewart Elementary Principal, Audra Goodman.

Better Together Conference
Over 200 CIS staff and leaders will gather in Tacoma for a two-day exclusive conference focused on peer connection and expert-led training. This unique event fosters peer-to-peer connection and sharing, bringing in field experts to deliver impactful trainings and insights. Attendees will have opportunities to ask questions, develop new skills, and strengthen their ability to meet the diverse needs of 91¹ú²ú statewide. The Better Together Conference underscores our commitment to continuous learning and collaboration, ensuring our team is equipped to drive meaningful change in education.
